Why Should I Go On?
A Question Of Hope
First, happy Independence Day. Don’t burn your hand off with fireworks tonight. Second, let’s turn our attention to Psalm 55. You may notice that at the top of the psalm, it is called “a maskil of David.” There is uncertainty about what maskil means, but it likely means that this was a psalm which was supposed to be read slowly and with deep contemplation. I want you to do that today. Commit to reading Psalm 55 five times during different parts of the day. Linger over it, and see which parts of the psalm stick out to you. What is God trying to tell you through this psalm?
As I read through this psalm, what comes to mind most quickly are the last two verses. We have a reminder that no matter the problems we face, we can cast our burdens upon God. God will sustain us through the difficult days of life because there will be difficult days of life. God will sustain us and fight for us. He will win victory over evil. We know that, and we must trust in Him. Whatever you are going through, God will take care of you. Contemplate what it means for God to take care of you. Give your concerns to God and trust in Him to be your provider and protector.
