Why Should I Go On?
A Question Of Hope
Psalm 34:19 puts life into perspective. One of my favorite aspects of the wisdom literature of the Old Testament (Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs) is that it is an honest reflection of life. Considering just the Psalms, there are psalms of raw honesty about a person’s predicament. The Psalms were not only written when a writer was happy and blessed. Whether it was David or someone else, these psalms were written as people were struggling with multiple ailments and problems. Psalm 34 is no different.
Verse 19 sums up this psalm by saying what we all know. A life with God is not a life free of pain and difficulty; however, it is a life in which God rescues us from the pain. Even the righteous, those who live a life with God will go through pain. But the promise of God is that He will go through the pain with us, and he will protect us as we are brokenhearted.
Why should I go on? Because God is with you, and God is not done with you yet. God saves those who are crushed in spirit. God rescues us from all problems. Rely on God, and He will get you through the tough times.
