The Flood
After about 400 days in the ark, Noah and his family exit the ark. That’s no typo. While it rained for 40 days, Noah had to be in the ark for about 400 days before it was safe for him and his family to exit the ark. And the first thing that Noah does is build an altar to God and worship Him.
What this teaches me is that we should always be ready to worship God. Even when life is difficult, we can remember how the Lord is faithful to us. Noah was probably exhausted from the work of being on the ark; nevertheless, he worshipped God, remembering that God had given him this task. Noah could have been upset that he was cooped up on the boat for 400 days; instead, he worshipped God, realizing that he was kept alive while the rest of the world perished. While Noah could have been bitter about the situation on the ark, he remained committed to God as a righteous man. His first action on dry land was to worship God.
We have the choice every day whether to worship God in the midst of whatever we are going through or ignore God. We can blame God for the difficulties, or we can praise God for being with us during the difficulties. Which are you going to choose today?
