The Tower Of Babel

We began this week by reading the Tower of Babel story. The Tower of Babel is a story about the separation of people across the world. Today, we read a statement that brings people together under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Building upon the truth we considered yesterday, the Holy Spirit unifies all Christians. Anyone who has the Holy Spirit is on equal footing with other Christians. No matter your job, your ethnicity, your age, or your gender, all Christians are equal in God’s eyes. Humanity’s pride led to God separating humans at the Tower of Babel; God’s gift of the Holy Spirit brings us back together. Pride divided humanity; the humility to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord brings humanity back together again.

This Sunday, we will have our last sermon from Genesis 1-11. We’ve read the creation accounts, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, and the Tower of Babel. What story spoke to you most? Take some time today or this weekend to think back through these stories. Jot down some notes you might be able to share with a friend. And come ready on Sunday to worship with your church family.
