The Flood
There is a simple obedience to Noah’s life that we could all learn from. God explains what is about to happen and what Noah needs to do, and Noah simply obeys. No questions asked, Noah just gets to work. Moses didn’t do that; most of the prophets whined or complained about their work. Jonah even ran away. Noah simply obeys.
How much easier would your life be if you stopped questioning God and just obeyed? I would guess a lot easier! Something that has become popular with families over the last several years is having a “Yes Day.” A “Yes Day” is a day when the parents have to say yes to everything (within reason, there are ground rules) that the kids ask. “Can I have ice cream for breakfast?” “Can we go out to lunch?” “Can we go swimming?” To those types of questions, the parents have agreed to only say yes.
Every day should be a yes day in our relationship with God. We should all be like Noah and have simple obedience. So, start this today. If there’s someone in front of you at the grocery store, if God prompts you to pay for their groceries, say yes. The same goes for the restaurant. When God tells you to call a friend or family member or make them a dessert or meal, obey God and say yes. When you are prompted to pray for others, stop what you are doing and pray. Be like Noah and only say yes to God.
