God Creates Everything
We leave humanity for tomorrow. But on days 5-6, God fills the earth and sea with life. One writer that I read some time ago theorized that creation was God playing. He defined play as anything you do not have to do. Since God did not have to create the universe, his creation is like playtime. And when I look at some of God’s magnificent creations, I believe God was having fun. Have you seen some of the weird sea creatures or a platypus? Yeah, there might be something to this idea that creation was God’s playtime.
When was the last time you had playtime? When was the last time you built something out of blocks or playdough, or mud? What about drawing a picture or writing a story? When was the last time you played? As we will read tomorrow, God created us in his image, and if God was playing when he was creating, we should play and have fun too! So, here’s what I want you to do. Go and play today. Have fun, enjoy creation, laugh with friends, draw a picture, or write a poem. Do something you enjoy and think about how God must have felt when he was creating the world and having fun while doing it. Go and enjoy your day!
